The European Monitoring Center for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) published in June its 2017 report on drugs. This report assesses drug use, trafficking and its dangerousness in Europe
The 2017 Quarterly Report published by the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Drug Treatment in Egypt revealed that the most common drugs among Egyptians are Tramadol, cannabis and heroin.
The report indicated that the rate Tramadol abuse is 75.6%, followed by cannabis with a 44.4% rate and then heroin with 39.9%. The report also pointed out that there are 18 psychiatric hospitals in Egypt, including 16 hospitals that offer free and specialized addiction treatment services.
