National Drugs Information Unit (NDIU) was set up in October 2006 at the Office for Combating Drugs Abuse of the Government of the Republic of Croatia. Primary purpose of the NDIU is to gather, analyse, interpret and distribute drug abuse data in Croatia.

In addition, the NDIU fulfils other obligations regarding cooperation with the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) which coordinates the system of monitoring the state of the drugs problem at European level.

Office for Combating Narcotic Drug Abuse established on 21st February 2002, is an expert service of the Government of the Republic of Croatia. The primary task of the Office is to perform continuous coordination, through the existing coordination mechanisms, to ensure efficient and adequately balanced measures, both among the state government bodies and between the state and local self-government bodies.

It is responsile for monitoring of the drug phenomena, it consider issues and do other things connected to the implementation of the Law on Drugs and National Drug Control Strategy in the Republic of Croatia and Action Plan on Drug Abuse. It has two main departments: Department for General programs and Strategies and Department of the National Drugs Information Unit and International Co-operation.
